We first conceived of the idea for PoliQuads Magazine in the Fall of 2018 with the specific intention of creating a political platform where civility, good faith, and honesty were the cornerstones of the enterprise. We were becoming increasingly disillusioned with the state of political discourse in the media, in traditional democratic institutions, and, most glaringly, in social media spheres. We wanted to foster an environment where people could escape their echo chambers and read/contribute to a publication where rationality, truth, and reason were the expected standards.
We published our first issue in December of 2018 (Marijuana Legalization) and, to our great surprise, we received an overwhelming amount of support and kudos that easily dwarfed any negativity thrown our way. So we pressed on. Now we are in July of 2019 (enjoying a short hiatus with our families) and are compiling this “Best Of” issue for our readers, Patrons, writers, experts, editors and supporters.
The last 10 months have been an incredibly valuable experience and we are constantly encouraged by the growing size of our audience, the dedication of our writers, and the feedback we receive from all sources. So despite the occasional setback or nasty comment we fully intend to press on and grow the space so that all political perspectives have a seat at the table when important issues are discussed.
I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank some key individuals who have greatly helped our publication to date. This includes donations and support from Chris, Kim, and John, referrals/writing/ideas from Elizabeth Hobson, columns and editing from Katherine Revello, the recurring presence of Mae Fengari and especially the Socialist Party of Great Britain / Adam Buick for his amazing additions to each issue. I would also like to thanks some of our featured contributors for their amazing work, this includes Teng Biao, Micheal Tanner, Janice Fiamengo, Mike Stuchbery, Antony Sammerhoff, and Conor Barnes.
Thank you all for you likes, shares, Retweets, comments, donations, subscriptions, and ideas. We appreciate everyone who has helped us get to this point and we look forward to what the rest of 2019 will bring once we return in September.
Cheers from Matthew and Gregory Zink, you all rock.
